Jeremy Wasko – Founder, Magna Terra

The backstory

My name is Jeremy Wasko. I was part of one of the last generations to grow up in a world that wasn’t dominated by the internet. This gave me a profound appreciation for exploring the outdoors, which carried with me as I moved from the east coast to the Rocky Mountains and on to the west coast.

It was in the Rocky Mountains where I truly discovered public lands. Driving for hours on forest service roads, or hiking for days on end in Wilderness Areas, it felt as if I unlocked a secret world. A world full of ancient history, beautiful wilderness, and wildly diverse ecosystems. It was truly mind blowing.

This exploration on public lands turned into a deeply rooted fascination, one in which I felt was critical to share with others. Because we all share these public lands together as citizens, but not enough people know just how spectacular and impactful they really are.

Hence, Magna Terra was born with two specific goals:

  1. To teach you how to navigate and explore our public lands without being overwhelmed or intimidated. Public lands offer so many incredible opportunities that you can experience if you just know how.
  2. To support our public lands and teach others how they can help as well. Public lands are critical for natural resources, jobs, local communities, historical and cultural sites, wildlife, and more. Your help and action are always appreciated, small or large.

My expertise

  1. Two decades of exploring our public lands. This includes backpacking trips over 100 miles, car camping on remote forest service roads, staying at beautiful family campgrounds, and thousands of miles covered on hiking trails.
  2. American Red Cross Wilderness First Aid certification 2022 – Thomas Coyne Survival Schools.
  3. Extensive experience in Colorado, Utah, and California. I have explored much more than that, but those are my most explored areas in the US.
